You are inivited to Hibbleton Gallery’s next art exhibit entitled “Shopping In Paris” featuring the photographs of Skyler Cozad. The opening reception is Friday, August 5th from 6-10pm during the Downtown Fullerton Art Walk. As always this event is FREE and open to the public.

Artist statement:

As I looked through the photos I took during the three weeks I spent in Vietnam I noticed this overall feeling of longing and distraction. It felt like there was this longing to be somewhere else. To escape. To live a life they couldn’t obtain. There was this overwhelming influence from the outside, from the knockoff american products they sold in the markets to the pop culture influences that were evident throughout the culture. It feels like a country looking for an identity. “Shopping in Paris” (logo on the shirt of the girl in the first photo) represents that longing for escape… to be anywhere but present.
