To Paint With Paper: The Art of Chris Param
You are cordially invited to the next art exhibit at Hibbleton Gallery, entitled “To Paint with Paper: the Art of Chris Param”. The opening reception is Friday, May 5th from 6-10pm during the Downtown Fullerton Art Walk. As always, this event is FREE and open to the public.
Artist Statement:
Since the beginning of my artist career, I found love in experimenting with unusual application of various mediums. I started as a painter, but once I discovered collage I immediately gravitated towards the ripping, cutting, and glueing. I taught myself a style of collage which creates an illusion of an expressive painting. When I describe to people what type of work I do, I explain to them that I “paint with paper,” using the colors from the pictures as my “palette” and my hands are my “paint brushes”.
Essentially, I give magazines a second life by using them to create large scale portraits, landscapes, or abstracts by up-cycling undesired trash. I feel that collage artwork should be much more relevant in the art world because of how uncommon it is. My goal, as an artist, is to spread my passion for the arts, and especially the collage medium, to the world while inspiring others around me by expressing a unique technique.
See you there!
Love,
